Position Summary:

Responsible for planning, developing, and monitoring activities in school age and day camp programs.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED. An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university is required.
• Must obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA Childcare Branch.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications required within 60 days of employment and kept current.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, demonstrating the ability to motivate and supervise staff. Planning and program development skills are beneficial.
• Supervision experience required.
• Previous licensed childcare experience required.
• At least 1 year of office administration and customer service experience.

• Supervisory experience of at least 1 year is strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, and reliable transportation required for travel related to job duties.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email applications needed.
• Must report suspicions of abuse or neglect to appropriate authorities.

Essential Functions:

• Participate in ratio as a teacher/sr activity leader.
• Assist in planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing child care programs following YMCA and state guidelines.
• Operate within budget guidelines.
• Ensure program quality and safety.
• Maintain required enrollment levels.
• Comply with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regulations and cooperate with inspections.
• Complete annual inspections with relevant agencies.
• Stay informed about NAEYC and NAA accreditation requirements and develop plans for acquisition and maintenance.
• Maintain records for CACFP and other grant programs.
• Supervise staff to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary environment meeting licensing standards.
• Ensure staff complete required trainings.
• Keep accurate records for programs, facilities, and staff.
• Establish procedures for scheduling and substitutes.
• Communicate concerns or incidents to the Child Care/Program Director.
• Build relationships with members, participants, and community partners.
• Remain visible and engaged with participants.
• Recruit, train, and engage volunteers.
• Participate in program teams and committees.
• Attend parent and family events.
• Promote programs through marketing materials.
• Possess the ability to safely drive a vehicle to transport children.
• Protect confidential information related to participants, families, and staff.
