GCESC Learning Center Intervention Specialist Middle School/High School

Reports to:

Director of Learning Center Program
Salary Range: $43,000 - $70,000 (Dependent on experience and education - prorated based on number of days)
Excellent Benefits Package Consisting of:

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of ODE's Social Emotional Learning Standards
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Teaching license:
    Mild/Moderate – Intervention Specialist or Education of handicapped in areas of learning disabilities/behavior disorders (LD/BD) or emotionally‑disturbed/severe behavior handicapped (ED/SBH).
  • Adheres to Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • Trained in CPI/Non‑Violent Crisis Prevention (preferred; training provided if needed)
  • Experience in IEP writing and Data Collection
  • Proficient at conducting FBAs and writing BIPs
  • Experience working with Emotionally Disturbed/Behaviorally Challenged Students
  • Knowledge of Ohio Academic Content Standards and ability to write lesson plans that coordinate with them and that are differentiated to meet the needs of all students on caseload
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of every student
  • Excellent attendance record and punctuality
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Prefer to have passing test score on Foundations of Reading (OAE 090)
General Description

Constructs and implements Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Plans for ED & other students in Learning Center program; conducts evaluations required to document student progress toward goals & objectives; participates in parent conferences to share information pertaining to the IEP and student progress.

  • Completes paperwork accurately
  • Verifies and correctly enters data
  • Organizes tasks and manages time effectively
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual
  • Employee shall remain free from any alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the center
  • Pass BCI/FBI background checks
