ResponsibilitiesThis is highly skilled electronics and electrician work in wiring, testing, installation, calibration and repair of electrical equipment, instruments, programmable logic controllers, data transmission and acquisition systems, computers, telemetry, electrical co-generation equipment and audio/video equipment.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
- Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND journeyman electrician with a certificate in electronics or related field.
- Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND completion of a four‑year certificate program in electronics or an electronic related field.
- Associate degree in Electronics (degree must be from an accredited college or university).
Experience
- Must have 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, and experience in the maintenance and repair of computer‑hosted data acquisition systems including PLC and/or RTU functions.
- All of the above experience must have been obtained within the past 10 years.
Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
Special RequirementsMust not be colorblind.
Promotional QualificationsMust be a full‑time permanent or part‑time permanent employee in pay grade 125 (Wage) or below, pay grade 29 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and have been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

Applicants appearing on the promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the open competitive list. BackgroundCheck
Background investigation is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass the applicable background investigation for the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
Drug and Nicotine TestingFinal appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current city employees.
