Military Fellowship Program: A&P Mechanic

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as Skill Bridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

NOTE:

You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.
As an A&P Mechanic, you will assist with the repair, replacement and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts. You'll support the necessary checks in regards to the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts. You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to assist with diagnosis on parts to be replaced, and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop.

You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.

** Qualifications You Must Have:
*** Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD Skill Bridge program
* High school diploma or GED equivalent  + A higher level degree may substitute for experience  + Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
* Must pass, written, oral and practical assessments
* Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
* Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
* Ability to speak, read and write in English
* Familiarity with applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
** Qualifications We Prefer:
*** FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience
* Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
* Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS)
* Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required
