Job Description
The Environmental Group Leader is responsible for managing the groups staff, providing technical support, ensuring quality control, reviewing billings and expenses, and overseeing project delivery. This role includes obtaining and negotiating fees, defining scope, and supervising assigned projects to ensure compliance with commitments, schedules, and budgets. The Environmental Group Leader is responsible for multiple concurrent projects and is expected to actively participate in business development for the group.
Job Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise and final QA/QC decisions for the group.
- Recognize problems quickly and address them promptly.
- Work with the Director to determine group fee structure and billing rates.
- Prepare proposals and contracts for projects, with authority to quote fees as directed by policy.
- Conduct group meetings to ensure processes and procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with the Director to minimize write-offs within the group.
- Review monthly financial reports and coordinate with the Director on group performance.
- Maintain strong client relationships to secure future work.
- Identify prospective clients and actively participate in business development efforts.
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments
- Soil and groundwater sampling and analysis
- Compliance permitting
- Technical writing
- Wetland/WOTUS delineation and permitting
- NEPA
- Ohio EPA regulations
- Stormwater
- Asbestos, lead, and radon knowledge
- Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of related experience, including 45 years in project management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of techniques, procedures, and theories in environmental science.
- Experience managing personnel and supervising technical work.
- Ability to sit for long periods, as well as stand, walk, and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights (1030 lbs).
- Ability to walk construction job sites and climb ladders.
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity to operate technical equipment, read technical information, and analyze complex data.
- Occasional travel to offsite locations for work, errands, or meetings may be required.
