Position: Equal Opportunity Specialist II - #26-4403-001

Responsibilities

The EOS II plays a key role in advancing the City of Dayton’s civil rights, fair housing, and equity and inclusion efforts. This position independently conducts civil rights investigations, leads education and outreach initiatives, and supports the Community Appeals Board (CAB) in carrying out its responsibilities related to police–community relations. The EOS II also supports the Human Relations Council (HRC) Board and contributes to the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of initiatives designed to affirmatively further fair housing and promote equitable treatment across the community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies, Urban Affairs, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Community Development, Public Administration, Political Science, Demographics, Econometrics, Geography (GIS), Social Anthropology, Environmental Studies, Social Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Social Justice, Human Rights or a closely related field & 4 years of experience in civil or human rights, social justice, fair housing, equal employment, conflict management, or working with immigrants and other minorities.
  • Law degree & 4 years of experience in civil or human rights, social justice, fair housing, equal employment, conflict management, or working with immigrants and other minorities.
  • A Master’s Degree in one of the above listed areas may be substituted for one year of the above required experience.
  • Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.
License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
