Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Tech*

Unit: Needmore Road Medical Imaging

Shift: 6:30a-2p

Facility: MVH-Needmore Medical

• Independently performs Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of radiopharmaceuticals. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture.
• Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Nuclear Medicine department including radiation protection practices.
• Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties to maintain equipment in good working condition.
• May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.
• Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures of diagnostic and therapeutic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols. Evaluates diagnostic Nuclear Medicine studies for technical image quality.
• Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the Nuclear Medicine procedure.
• Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed Nuclear Medicine safety standards. Performs Quality Control/Quality Assurance as required.
• Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
• Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
• Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
• Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about the exam.
• Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
• Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
• Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.

• Education Required: Associate degree
• Type of degree: Allied Health
• Area of study or major: Nuclear Medicine Technology
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR Certification required
• Nuclear Medicine registry required
• ODH licensure required
• ARRT RT (R) registry required and/or NMTCB

• Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
• Preferred experience: One year experience in specialized field of Nuclear Medicine
• Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge in anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of Ohio Department of Health rules & regulations
• Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage

• Sign on Bonus Eligible $12,500
