The Athletic Trainer is a certified, licensed professional who practices in the clinical and outreach setting as the liaison between the patient, the medical doctors and/or Orthopedic/Sports Medicine team members involved in the assessment and care of acute or chronic youth athletic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes following the patient care from community outreach events, making sure all the patient’s and doctors needs are met to provide the best physician/patient experience as possible.
Perform additional allied duties and provide patient care activities as needed in collaboration with the physician and in accordance with the licensure, scope of practice, standards and functions of his/her individual professional licensure. Included in the standards for appropriate clinical competency and documentation.
Perform as a medical team member and participate in the functions and activities essential to operations. Be in compliance with medical/legal requirements for the sporting events or activities. Maintain knowledge of up to date techniques in the enhancement, prevention, and care of athletic injuries.
