Information Technology Subject Matter Expert
US (Remote)
OverviewWe are seeking an Information Technology Subject Matter Expert (IT SME) to provide senior-level technical leadership and enterprise IT expertise in support of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Critical Cloud and Infrastructure Support (CCIS) program. The IT SME will design, develop, and oversee enterprise solutions that ensure the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of DLA's multi-cloud and hybrid IT environments.

- Design, develop, and manage enterprise IT architectures supporting cloud, network, and on-premise environments.
- Provide high-level technical guidance for infrastructure design, risk assessment, and contingency planning across multi-domain systems.
- Advise DLA on modernization strategies, technology adoption, and integration of emerging tools and platforms.
- Support the implementation of DoD Zero Trust and Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance.
- Analyze IT system performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose architectural improvements.
- Support system configuration, installation, and administration of Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL).
- Coordinate with network engineers, database administrators, and cybersecurity staff to ensure end-to-end solution integrity.
- Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and lifecycle management artifacts.
- Participate in reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance with DoDI 8510, NIST 800-53, and DISA STIGs.
- Provide training and mentorship to DLA personnel on enterprise technologies, system design, and cloud migration best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible for IT‑I (Tier 5/SSBI) / Critical Sensitive access. U.S. Citizenship required.
- Certifications:
- One or more Google Cloud Platform certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect).
- One or more AWS certifications (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional).
- DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, CASP+, or CISSP).
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering, information systems management, or IT architecture.
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in enterprise IT systems, with at least five (5) years supporting DoD or Federal Information Systems environments.
- Expertise in multi-cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure, OCI) and automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands‑on experience with virtualization, networking, and enterprise database administration.
- Strong understanding of DISA STIG, DoD Cloud SRG, and NIST compliance frameworks.
- Experience leading large‑scale IT modernization and migration initiatives in DoD or federal settings.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
- Five (5) years of hands‑on experience supporting DoD IT hosting or enterprise database solutions.
- Expertise with Oracle 19c+ installation, tuning, and management in cloud and on‑premise environments.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix (RHEL 8+) for Oracle deployments, including shell scripting and file system administration.
- Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 13c) and diagnostic tuning tools for proactive system management.
- Strong understanding of database security hardening and compliance with DISA STIGs and RMF controls.
- Familiarity with database performance monitoring and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or custom scripts.
- Experience supporting cloud‑hosted database services across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI environments.
- Knowledge of high‑availability architectures, failover clustering, and disaster recovery best practices.
- Ability to mentor junior DBAs and collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams in a mission‑focused environment.
