Employment at AIDA-America Welder - Level 2
Performs the assembly of large weldments and applies preliminary tack welding so the parts can be moved safely. This includes assisting with the final welding of the parts.
EducationAssociate degree from a trade school, community college, or equivalent experience.
Experience / RequirementsFive plus years of experience in the welding, fitting, or fabricating field.
The ability to plan, layout, and weld applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Physical - must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and lift up to 60 pounds without difficulty. Operate large cranes and forklifts and handle physical exposure from moving equipment and machine parts, periodically lying prone under machinery or on knees for completion of welding and mechanical tasks. Some ladder climbing. Working in confined spaces.
Visual acuity for reading blueprints and precision measuring instruments.
Mental - subject to frequent overtime requirements, changes in job duties and assignments (often without much notice), constant or frequent deadline pressures. Ability to consider alternatives and make decisions. Capability of mastering shop floor computer terminals and data recording.
