CNC Programmer at Norwood Medical
Dayton, OH $60,000.00-$
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer to join our precision machining team. In this role, you will be the primary architect of our production efficiency. Your mission will be to develop, implement, and optimize CAM programs for our vertical and horizontal milling centers, specifically focusing on the production of complex, high-precision surgical components.
The ideal candidate isn’t just someone who can make a part to print—they are an optimization expert obsessed with shaving seconds off cycle times without compromising the tight tolerances required for minimally invasive medical devices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop complex 3, 4, and 5-axis programs for vertical and horizontal mills (using Mastercam, Esprit, or NX).
- Audit existing programs to identify bottlenecks. Implement high-speed machining (HSM) techniques, optimized tool engagement, and efficient toolpath strategies to minimize air-cut time and maximize throughput.
- Design programs optimized for multi-part fixtures and tombstone setups on horizontal mills to increase “green light” time.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to select high-performance cutting tools and design rigid work holding solutions that support aggressive cycle time targets.
- Ensure all programs meet ISO 13485 standards. Create detailed setup sheets and provide technical support to operators during first-article inspections (FAI).
- 2+ years of CNC programming experience in a high-precision, high-volume environment (Medical, Aerospace, or Semi-conductor preferred).
- Proven track record programming both Vertical (VMC) and Horizontal (HMC) milling centers.
- Demonstrated ability to significantly reduce cycle times through advanced programming techniques and cutter path optimization.
- Deep understanding of machining medical-grade materials such as Titanium and 17-4 Stainless Steel.
- Strong command of trigonometry and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
