The founders of Day City Hospice created a patient‑centered hospice that maximizes resources at bedside while being operated locally. Our passion is to provide patients and their families with hospice care rooted in the communities we serve. When end‑of‑life care is necessary, patients and their families are in their most vulnerable time. Our Ohio‑based management team, through local clinicians, can respond to the needs of our patients in a timely and appropriate manner because we are local.

We don’t require high caseloads or unmanageable quotas, which gives our team more time with each of their patients. Our top priority is our patients and the people serving them.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8a‑5p

What You’ll Do

  • Perform personal care needs after being given a patient’s assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly.
  • Meet safety needs of patient and use equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2, etc.).
  • Give personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and change bed linen as often as assigned.
  • Assist in dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including shopping, as assigned. Assist in feeding the patient as assigned.
  • Take and record temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency.
  • Provide proper care and observation of patient’s skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence.
  • Report on patient’s condition and significant changes to the case manager. Also be aware of the caregiver or other individuals living with the patient and interpersonal issues.
  • Provide respite for patient’s/family/caregiver when on‑site, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Certified by the state as a nurse aide.
  • Maintains a current CPR certification.
  • List on the state aide registry with a clear record able to deliver care to patients.
  • Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
