Join our team as a Shortage Control Associate and contribute to a secure shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), your role impacts store security and the overall shopping experience. You will monitor entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas to reduce opportunities for theft, while engaging with customers and associates in a confident, friendly, and energetic manner consistent with our core values.
Your discipline, situational awareness, and commitment to safety and security standards are critical as you monitor the store for the duration of your shift and report theft incidents or suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty when identified. Your knowledge of shortage reduction programs and your positive attitude help build trust with customers and colleagues.
You will be a valuable partner to store and field leadership by identifying and reporting theft incidents and/or suspicious subjects to your Manager on Duty once identified.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
- Stand at the front of the store, remain vigilant, and greet every customer entering or exiting with a warm smile and a confident greeting.
- Create a secure environment and actively reduce opportunities for theft.
- Possess knowledge of top shortage areas and programs aimed at theft reduction.
- Effectively communicate theft prevention information during store rallies, in collaboration with the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring safety and security standards are followed.
- Understand your role in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.
- Provide support in training associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly.
- 1+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, or Operations is preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to visually monitor the store environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
- Demonstrate a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with disciplined decision making.
- Excellent communication with customers and co-workers and strong leadership to foster productive relationships.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
