CASA Coordinator

Montgomery County Juvenile Court, Dayton, OH

PAY GRADE: $24.71 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS: Manage a caseload of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers who serve as investigators, monitors, reporters, and advocates for children involved in the juvenile court system. Maintain weekly/monthly contact, assist with investigations, conduct home, school, and agency visits, and attend court hearings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a caseload of CASA volunteers, ensuring high quality service.
  • Maintain weekly/monthly contact, monitor reports, and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Assist volunteers with case investigations.
  • Participate in home, school, and agency visits regularly.
  • Attend court hearings on behalf of the CASA program.
  • Assist with in-service topics and CASA pre-service trainings.
  • Participate in trainings and workshops to increase job knowledge.
  • Assist Manager of Volunteer Services with grant reporting and applications.
  • Maintain records pertaining to all cases.
  • Track and report data on case and volunteer statistics to county, VOCA, state, and national CASA organizations.
  • Correspond consistently with all parties involved in a case.
  • Participate in activities geared toward volunteer appreciation and other court activities.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide office coverage as assigned by Manager of Volunteer Services.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of family issues, child abuse and neglect dynamics, court system processes, volunteer program requirements, social welfare, and supervisory principles.
  • Ability to supervise volunteers, work with diverse populations, maintain good public relations, establish effective work relationships, exhibit good organizational skills, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate initiative, and accept program responsibility and leadership.
  • Skill in written and oral communications, computer operation, general typing, job software programs, and general office equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a social service related field and over three years of social service experience.
  • Completion of CASA training following appointment.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within 3 days of original appointment.
