Bryan College seeks to fill a faculty role in its department of Christian Studies & Philosophy. This position will be hired at either the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, dependent on foregoing experience.
The ideal candidate should be able to comfortably teach across more than one sub-discipline in the Christian Studies area, with preference given to the following areas: biblical studies, practical ministry, apologetics, or worldview formation. The faculty member will also likely contribute to Christian worldview integration initiatives across various academic units of the College.
Faculty in this position will integrate faith and learning in the classroom and will demonstrate excellence in teaching while supporting the mission to “educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.” Faculty should possess a strong academic and/or professional background and a commitment to a biblical worldview. Faculty will have the opportunity to shape students’ intellectual and spiritual growth within a vibrant, faith-based academic community.

Dean of Humanities & Social Sciences
- A terminal degree in a Christian Studies related discipline is expected/preferred
- In rare/unusual circumstances, other degrees in the field(s) of study accompanied by substantive, relevant professional experience and/or scholarship may be considered.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned
- Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
- Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
- Ability to learn relevant sections of Bright Space, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
- Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
- Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
- Teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and provide timely feedback and grades to students as directed by academic administration.
- Prepare course plans and materials and have them posted and available to students by institutional deadlines.
- Serve the broader pedagogical development of colleagues/programs via worldview integration initiatives, as assigned.
- Serve students through relational mentoring, advising, etc.
- Keep weekly office hours to support student success and to personalize instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to serving Him and His church.
- Working hours will consist of (a) presence to teach courses, (b) required office hours (10 hours per week minimum), (c) required/expected meetings or events of a professional or college-supportive nature.
- Longer or irregular hours may be required at various times during the year.
- Light physical activity such as walking and standing is required on a daily basis.
