Job Summary

To provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of their education and demonstrated abilities.

Essential Job Functions

Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.

Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.

Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.

Review and, under supervision, modify the plan of care based on the nursing plan of care in daily assignments.

Observe and record signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status; propose revisions of interventions and outcomes.

Deliver nursing interventions consistent with the medical plan of care.

Notify appropriate staff of changes in patient status; recognize priorities and potential crises.

Follow physician's orders in delivering nursing care.

Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Administer medications and treatments safely and properly.

Execute physician's orders for assigned patients.

Assemble equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures; assist with procedures or treatments.

Adhere to infection control, isolation, and aseptic techniques.

Document nursing care in patient records.

Follow internal controls and reporting structures.

Perform related duties as required.

Equipment

Standard patient care supplies, equipment, and mechanical devices.

Work Environment

Located within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance and pre-employment drug testing are required.

Required

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit in Texas.
No experience required.
Current BLS-HP certification required.

Recent graduates with temporary permits will be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience.
