Accountability:
Responsible for assisting in management of day-to-day activities involving track inspection and track maintenance/repair teams to ensure safe, efficient rail quality for all divisions within the Railroad Company. Interact with internal and external customers in support of achieving company goals.

• Work in conjunction with the Track Supervisor to install and repair railroad track and complete other projects as needed.
• Operate machinery in order to adequately inspect the track.
• Complete all required documentation.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Railroad experience preferred.
• Perform tasks associated with track work, including but not limited to pulling and driving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and other track apparatus.

• Prefer related work experience of at least 2 years involving track inspection, repair, and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of FRA rules and regulations required.
• Able to pass Railroad safety test and training.
• Can safely and efficiently operate power tools.
• Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
• Should be multi‑task oriented and possess good analytical skills.

• Able to perform physically strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires occasional use of a 30‑lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force.
• Requires occasional use of a 10‑lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force.
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast safely.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

Performs some duties in job‑site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements; appropriate PPE required for job‑site visits.

24/7 availability required. Maintenance of teamwork within track inspection and maintenance/repair operations and with company and corporate groups. Achieving timely and expedited service to RJC divisions, often in situations beyond the control of the switching or shortline operation.

Performs railroad track inspection and repair/maintenance operations.
