Job SummaryThis is a temporary part‑time teaching position in the Department of Music. Specializations vary by need. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to establishing positive relationships with students and contributing to a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Duties / Responsibilities- Teach courses in Music such as Applied Woodwind, Applied Brass, Applied Voice, Ensemble Coaching, Class Piano, Music History, and Music Theory as needed.
- Prepare course materials (syllabi, presentations, assignments) in collaboration with other faculty.
- Deliver student‑centered learning through effective use of Canvas.
- Administer and grade formative and summative assessments and provide feedback.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for students.
- Support college and departmental activities with leadership, commitment, accountability, and collegiality.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in collegiate teaching preferred.
- Active commitment to the life of the University beyond the classroom.
- Adjunct Instructors are not eligible for tenure.
Master’s degree in music or related field from a nationally accredited institution, along with commensurate professional experience.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education- Experience teaching historically disadvantaged populations.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Prepared to teach a variety of music courses, including day, evening, or weekend times.
Standing, seating, and movement during teaching, learning, and advising in classroom and office settings. Demonstrating proper musical techniques in applied music settings may be required.
