Medical Front Desk - Patient Services Representative

The Orthopedic Clinic has served our community since 1961, providing high‑quality, individualized orthopedic care. We are seeking an energetic, customer‑focused candidate with previous healthcare/medical office experience to join our dynamic team as a Patient Services Representative.

The Patient Services Representative will work directly with patients to create an exceptional patient experience and ensure accurate, efficient, and effective administration of operational practices. They are the first point of contact and will collaborate with clinical team members to ensure smooth patient flow.

What The Patient Services Representative Will Do
  • Greets all patients and visitors in a professional, compassionate, and friendly manner.
  • Performs demographic and insurance validation upon patient check‑in to ensure accuracy of the EHR.
  • Prepares registration paperwork for next business day and reviews eligibility.
  • Performs initial insurance eligibility and verification.
  • Collects co‑payments and outstanding balances at check‑in and time of services, and estimates fees at check‑out.
  • Attempts to collect any outstanding balances and makes payment plan arrangements.
  • Reviews and complies with collection notes in patient or appointment notes.
  • Informs patients of delays in physician schedules and assists with patient comfort during the delay.
  • Schedules follow‑up and physical therapy appointments.
  • Provides patient with a summary of care, orders, and any patient educational information prescribed by provider.
  • Proactively assists the team in covering wherever needed.
  • Provides coverage at other locations as asked.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School Diploma.
  • Previous customer service experience, preferably in medical/healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR software applications, preferably Athena.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of auto insurance.
