• Registers, orders, and accessions pathology specimens into computer systems.
• Performs specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, cover slipping, and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical, and body fluid specimens.
• Prepares specimens for research requests and transports specimens to/from collection sites, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
• May perform special staining on tissues as needed, maintaining solutions and documenting quality control.
• Adheres to safety requirements and appropriately handles and disposes of chemicals.

• High School Grad or Equiv (Required)
• Clinical Laboratory Technician – Histotechnologist (TC‑HISTO) – Accredited Issuing Body
• Histotechnician (HTASCP) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLTASCP) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
