The Licensed Optician delivers the brand value proposition and helps establish For Eyes as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community. They create exceptional value in the lives of customers by delivering legendary customer service and perfectly crafted high‑quality eyewear that exceeds expectations.
MajorDuties & Responsibilities
- Greets all customers with a warm welcome, exchanges names, and explains the service process.
- Custom‑fits glasses and precisely places prescriptions in lenses.
- Acts as a leader in optical acumen and provides a voice for associates.
- Takes and records measurements, adjusts eyewear, and ensures finished products meet standards and customer requirements.
- Attracts new customers and explores their needs by asking open‑ended questions.
- Examines prescriptions to identify special needs and assists co‑workers with complex product or prescription issues.
- Utilizes store tools, adheres to Brand Store Commitments, and employs technology accurately even under time pressure.
- Demonstrates superior product knowledge, describing features and benefits of lenses and frames using appropriate tools.
- Anticipates and resolves customer problems, ensuring satisfaction and exceeding expectations.
- Manages time, prioritizes tasks, and maintains focus on Brand KPIs and competencies.
- Encourages referrals and actively seeks feedback.
- Maintains store appearance, cleanliness, and organization, protecting company assets.
- Communicates safety opportunities and follows safe work practices.
- Exhibits a "can‑do" spirit, self‑motivation, and a desire for continuous learning.
- Adheres to company policies, including discounting, promotions, and inventory management.
- Achieves sales targets (80%‑100% on the floor).
- Performs additional duties as assigned (e.g., customer calls, dispensing eyewear).
- Maintains proper dress code, including name tag and associate tablet.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- State licensure.
- Optical dispensing experience.
- Strong customer service skills: effective communicator, listener, and team builder.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- Basic math skills.
- Awareness of current fashion trends.
- Sales skills—ability to use and carry an iPad/tablet.
- Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators.
Employee pay is determined by geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. Employees may receive a competitive bonus and/or commission plan. Benefits include health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation, and various employee discounts.
