Diesel Technician​/Mechanic 2nd shift - Daytona , FL

Overview

Diesel Technician/Mechanic (A) – 2nd shift, Daytona Beach, Florida. Responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy and light‑duty waste/recycling vehicles.

• Diagnose engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and body components on Mack, IHC, Autocar, Heil, and McNeilus vehicles.
• Maintain all aspects of the vehicle fleet and equipment.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Follow safety policies, conduct safety checks, and use Factory Service Manuals.
• Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
• Provide assistance, guidance, and direction to all shop technicians.
• Attend and participate in corporation‑sponsored training courses.
• Keep up to date with current technology used by Waste Pro.

• 3–5 years of hands‑on technical experience on medium‑duty, class 8 vehicles and equipment.
• Experience in the waste/recycling industry preferred.
• Ability to provide drive train, engine, and transmission inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
• Ability to assess structural damage and assign repairs.
• CDL Class B preferred or ability to obtain a CDL license.
• 7 ASE certifications or equivalent within 36 months.
• Clear understanding of OSHA safety requirements for vehicle fleets.
• Proficiency with computers for data tracking and communication.

Physical requirements include lifting 50–75 lb, frequent bending, twisting, and reaching. Exposure to chemical and residential waste. Work both inside and outside in extreme weather conditions.

• Attend assigned training courses.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
