Job Title: Strength & Conditioning Coach, Primary Football

Job Summary: The Athletic Department at Bethune-Cookman University invites applications for the full‑time position of strength & conditioning coach. This position has a multifaceted reporting structure: with oversight from the Athletic Director, the Deputy Athletic Director (or the Athletic Director’s designee), the coach is responsible for working in close conjunction with the head football coach and staff, the department’s leadership and administration, the director of strength and conditioning and staff, and the athletic training staff.
Responsibilities- Direct support of the vision, goals, and strategies of the athletic director and the head football coach
- Provide instruction, coordination, and support to all student‑athletes in the areas of safety, nutrition, and proper strength‑training and conditioning techniques to optimize performance and development and reduce injuries
- Remain current in the knowledge and advances of cardiovascular conditioning, weight training, speed training, and nutrition for student‑athletes
- Serve as a mentor and positive influence for student‑athletes and staff, primarily in the strength and conditioning area
- Coordinate administrative responsibilities as delegated and initiated, including maintaining the operational hours, functionality, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness of the football weight‑training facilities
- Travel with football while representing the university with professionalism and integrity
- Perform any other duties as assigned
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
- Certified by a nationally recognized accredited strength and conditioning certification program:
Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC) or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) - Successful demonstrated experience in strength and conditioning, preferably at the collegiate level
Employee must possess a valid driver’s license, current certification annually for NCAA recruiting and rules implementation, and pass background and routine drug screening as mandated by the university and the department of athletics. Employee must possess an up‑to‑date Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification. An ability to work independently while performing accurate and detail‑oriented tasks, an aptitude for creative problem solving, and an attitude of mutual respect and collegiality are essential.
Environmental/PhysicalConditions
The employee must be physically able to demonstrate many of the skills required for the student‑athletes to succeed. The employee also must be able to execute work expectations outdoors during inclement weather and during extreme cold and hot weather situations.
