Overview
Instruct recreational pom and dance classes for children ages 5 and up. One routine taught to each of the four classes (K, 1st–2nd grade, 3rd–4th grade, 5th grade and up). May choose to head instructor 1–2 classes or more, if desired. Participants perform at a high school basketball game and at the season-ending recital. Two assistant instructors are hired for the first two classes and one assistant for the last two classes.
Additional pay for choreography and prep time. Positions available for Fall/Winter for 20 weeks.
One evening per week – Thursdays from end of September to beginning of March; 20 weeks plus performance at a basketball game and rehearsal in beginning of March. Four classes; each class 40 minutes in length. First class starts at 4:45 pm (40-minute classes with 10 minutes in between classes) and last class ends at 7:50 pm. Averages 3-3.5 hours per week including prep time plus choreography time depending on the number of classes taught.
Looking for head instructor for first two classes with potential to head or assist instruct last two classes.
Classes held at the De Pere Community Center, 600 Grant St., De Pere, WI 54115
- Instruct pom & dance classes for youth ages 5 & up
- Pick out songs & choreograph 2 routines appropriate to age group; routines approximately 2 minutes in length
- Choose costumes and assist with preparations for recital performances
- Communicate with parents and maintain good PR with staff and public
- Identify and respond to participant behavior issues; document if necessary
- Maintain appropriate safety measures for program participants
- Applicant should have knowledge of dance/pom terminology
- Possess the ability to perform advanced pom & dance skills
- Choreograph pom & dance routines and progressively teach a specified age group
- Be energetic, enthusiastic, resourceful, and creative
- Possess the ability to work well with children and communicate effectively
- At least 17 years of age, preferable 18+
- Formal education not required
- Pom and dance experience is a must
- Previous teaching experience and experience working with children a plus
