Position and Salary

The City of De Pere is looking to immediately hire Firefighter/Paramedics to fill three current vacancies as well as establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies. Applicants will be notified when vacancies occur, and applications are processed.

Salary information is listed below. Base salary for Firefighter and Paramedic salaries are shown, with Paramedic pay including an additional 4.75% of the top base pay.

  • Base Salary (Firefighter):
    Start $65,243; 1 Year $69,294; 2 Years $73,354; 3 Years $77,410; 4 Years $81,465; 5 Years - Top Salary $85,522.
  • Base Salary (Paramedic):
    Start $69,305; 1 Year $73,356; 2 Years $77,416; 3 Years $81,472; 4 Years $85,527; 5 Years - Top Salary $89,584.

Current Firefighters:
The City offers an elevated entry-level salary through a lateral transfer program designed for Firefighters with equivalent experience from another full-time, career municipal fire and/or EMS department.

Recruitment Process

Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year. The basic recruitment process will consist of an in-person or virtual interview with the Fire Rescue Department. The Police and Fire Commission will establish an eligibility list. Candidates placed on the eligibility list may be invited for a physical abilities test.

Responsibilities

Respond to fire, emergency medical, and rescue incidents. Perform rescue operations by removing persons from danger; assist injured or unconscious persons. Operate apparatus and equipment, handle hoses, ladders, and heavy tools; work on varied terrain and vertical access. Respond to specialized services such as hazardous materials, extrication, and technical rescues (confined space, water, high angle, etc.). Maintain station and equipment; participate in training;

acquire knowledge of response area and target hazards. Educate the public on fire and injury prevention and fire department facilities and services. Participate in fire inspections of buildings, hydrants, and events; enter activities into records management systems and maintain reports.
