JobOverview
The Estimator is responsible for understanding the project and requirements to successfully complete quotes. This position involves constant communication with the Sales, Project Management and Engineering group on both new opportunities and the follow‑up on past quotes.
Role + Responsibilities- Responsible for starting quote, applying cost to quote requests for existing and potential customers and ensuring the customer’s, industry and statutory expectations can be met.
- Has the authority to generate quotes electronically and make required changes to existing quotes as deemed necessary.
- Responsible for pricing materials and completing all essential parts of the quote to completion.
- Responsible for accurately estimating work center run times by process.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an estimating or production role.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and machining processes (e.g., sheet metal, structural steel).
- Excellent communication, team collaboration skills, and be self‑motivated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP systems (Syteline preferred).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solid Works, and blueprint reading.
- Understanding of costing, Profit and Loss statements, and material sourcing.
- Estimating experience in metal manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience with Vertical and Horizontal machining along with Turning centers.
- Machining setup and programming experience for calculating speed and feed rates.
- Low and High‑volume production machining along with one‑off machining experience.
Potential travel may be required.
