Facilities Process Engineering Manager

Overview

Facilities Process Engineering Manager role at Panasonic Energy — leading the full lifecycle of process system projects and providing leadership to a process engineering team in a large lithium-ion battery facility expansion in De Soto, Kansas.

Design, Install & Construction

• Lead all phases of process system projects including design, construction, renovation, and commissioning while ensuring compliance with EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and other codes.
• Prepare project plans, budgets, and schedules; review technical submittals and manage contractors/consultants to deliver on engineering objectives.

Production Support

• Coordinate facility projects, system upgrades, and equipment relocations with cross-functional teams, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
• Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary assessments, and regulatory compliance checks while securing permits and liaising with authorities.

Process Systems Oversight

• Serve as system owner, monitoring performance, improving reliability, and supporting process engineering during operation; identify improvements and support projects to implement these.
• Develop SOPs, troubleshoot facility systems using SCADA/HMIs, and implement corrective actions to improve system performance.
• Review designs, forecasts, and materials planning while maintaining facility documentation and cost controls.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise and develop the facilities process engineering team, ensuring compliance with ASME and other applicable standards.
• Build relationships with suppliers and engineers across sites to drive performance, audits, and best practice sharing.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements

• Wearing PPE may be required for health and safety, including items such as Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a respirator where applicable; respirator fit testing will be required based on functional area.

Education

• Required:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or related field.

Essential Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in engineering and/or production in manufacturing.
• 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment and deliver quality results.
• Strong problem solving, decision making, and customer service orientation.
• Collaborative team player with willingness to learn and adapt.
• Working-level English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large facilities, preferably in advanced manufacturing.
• Experience with multi-discipline projects; distillation, water and wastewater systems.
• Strong communication skills, including executive-level presentations; experience with energy conservation programs.
• Experience in multinational environments and alignment with Panasonic core principles.

Preferred License

• Licensed Professional Engineer
