Position: Full-Time Dental Assistant
Pay: $20–$26/hour
, based on experience and negotiable
Are you an experienced Dental Assistant with a background in periodontics who enjoys working in a fast-paced specialty environment? Do you take pride in providing excellent patient care while supporting complex specialty procedures?
Wave Dental Specialists is a growing multi-specialty dental practice in Dearborn Heights, Michigan
, and we are looking for a dependable, motivated Dental Assistant to primarily support our Periodontist
.
This is a great opportunity for someone with periodontal experience who also wants the opportunity to continue learning and cross-train in other specialty areas. While your primary focus will be Periodontics, the ability and willingness to assist with Endodontics or Oral Surgery as needed would be a strong plus.
What You’ll Do- Assist the Periodontist during periodontal and surgical procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, surgical setups, and materials
- Assist with periodontal surgeries, implant procedures, grafting, and other specialty treatments
- Take dental X-rays and assist with diagnostic imaging
- Provide chairside assistance and anticipate the doctor's needs throughout procedures
- Support patient preparation, seating, and post-operative instructions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Help patients feel comfortable and informed throughout treatment
- Cross-train and assist with Endodontics and/or Oral Surgery when needed
- Previous dental assisting experience required
- Periodontal experience required
- Experience assisting with implants, grafting, extractions, or periodontal surgery strongly preferred
- Endodontic and/or Oral Surgery assisting experience is a major plus
- Experience with Open Dental preferred
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty environment
- Reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Able to anticipate the doctor's needs and work efficiently chairside
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn and support multiple specialties

Requirements
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one-year related experience and/or training or the equivalent of a combination of education and experience in the dental profession.
- Valid X-ray certificate.
- Current license if CDA, RDA, or EFDA (per state requirements).
- CPR & first aid certificate.
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
