Location:
Reports to DOT at 26001 Ford Road, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127. This role requires local travel to our facilities around the Dearborn Heights, MI area. Travel up to 30 miles of your home only.
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Pay: Up to $46/hour
General
Summary:
Provide occupational therapy services to patients impaired by physical or cognitive dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of treatment plans. Participate in patient care conferences, program development, and screenings as appropriate. Provide supervision for OTAs and aides as assigned. Complete documentation and adhere to policies, procedures, and current standards of clinical practice.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct occupational therapy screenings and evaluations to determine patient independence with activities of daily living, including self‑care skills, work and leisure.
- Provide occupational therapy treatments consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the AOTA for an Occupational Therapist.
- Develop and implement treatment plans using adaptations, strengthening and retraining to reach patients’ highest potential for independence. Adhere to professional standards of practice.
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with productivity standards by use of graded activities to facilitate the restoration of physical and functional abilities.
- Check, instruct, assign and review the work of OTAs and aides as assigned.
- Provide documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to accuracy, continuity of care and reimbursement guidelines.
- Participate, as requested, in patient care conferences, per company guidelines.
- Participate in CQI activities as required ensuring continuous quality of care.
- Promote current standards of clinical practice through participation in continuing education and in‑service programs.
- Coordinate and/or participate in in‑service programs for internal/external groups.
- Participate in new program development.
- Participate in additional activities directed to facilitate effective departmental operations.
- Participate in company meetings as directed.
Required Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Licensure as required by the State of Michigan.
Skills and Abilities:
- Initiative and flexibility in work environment.
- Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions.
- Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families.
- Physical ability to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds, without restriction, utilizing lifting devices clinically recommended for the patient.
