Art / Design Teacher
The Instructor of Art & Design provides instruction across a range of fine arts, studio arts, and design disciplines, including drawing, figure drawing, painting, foundations, graphic design, animation, and 3D/media arts. The faculty member may teach foundational and advanced coursework that supports transfer education, career and technical education, creative exploration, and interdisciplinary practice.
This position supports the continued development of innovative and industry-responsive curriculum in both traditional fine arts and contemporary digital design practices. The faculty member is expected to foster student creativity, technical skill development, visual literacy, critical thinking, and professional readiness while contributing to a collaborative and student-centered academic environment.
This position will start with the Winter 2027 Semester (1/8/2027).

- Master of Fine Arts ( MFA ) in Studio Art, Graphic Design, Animation, Digital Media, Media Arts, or a closely related field.
- Two (2) years of teaching experience at the college level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of both traditional and digital art and design practices.
- Evidence of proficiency in industry-standard creative software and technologies relevant to the discipline.
- Evidence of effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse academic environment.
- Submission of a Statement of Teaching Philosophy and an Artist Statement describing the candidate’s personal creative practice.
- Experience teaching across multiple areas of art and design, including fine arts, drawing, design, graphic design, animation, and/or 3D/media arts.
- Experience teaching foundational courses in drawing and design, as well as Art History and/or Art Appreciation.
- Experience with interdisciplinary curriculum development and project-based learning.
- Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction.
- Demonstrated professional practice through an exhibition record, design portfolio, freelance work, and/or relevant industry experience.
- Evidence of an exhibition record of personal artwork.
- Experience supporting student exhibitions, portfolio reviews, internships, transfer preparation, or community engagement initiatives.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and contemporary practices in digital media, animation, and creative production workflows.
- Submission of a portfolio demonstrating creative process and personal artwork.
