Ford is seeking an experienced Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and release of switch components utilized throughout the vehicle. The candidate will interface with several functional areas to ensure the Switch component being developed performs to customer expectation and Ford requirements. This position provides a unique and challenging Design & Release experience combining electrical, mechanical, styling, software, and vehicle‑level system performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and release a switch component for specific programs.
  • Work with Program Application Engineers, suppliers, studio, ergonomics, purchasing, and other cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead DFMEA, DVP&Rs, 8D’s, and all other program‑specific foundation documents with the Full‑Service Supplier (FSS).
  • Create component specifications, quality documents, and drawings with the FSS.
  • Conduct technical design reviews with the component supplier.
  • Support the development of functional specifications, engineering specifications, and diagnostic specifications as needed.
  • Work closely with suppliers and the quality group to understand and improve R/1000 and TGW concerns.
  • Collaborate with supplier, purchasing, and OCE teams to ensure cost targets are met and a cost‑efficient product is achieved.
  • Align switch component design and release with the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) process and milestone deliverables.
  • Lead, support, and attend Commodity PATs and vehicle/program launches.
  • Travel to Ford Assembly Plants and/or supplier facilities during the Program Launch phase.
  • Continuously improve Design & Release processes by enhancing requirements based on lessons learned.
Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in design and release of electromechanical components.
  • Experience with automotive switches or related electrical/electronic components preferred.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Past experience working with or within a large, diverse cross‑functional team.
  • Program, project, supplier management and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrates good leadership behaviors and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to meet time‑sensitive deadlines.
  • Sound decision‑making and judgment relating to operating procedures and projects.
  • Mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 26262 and Functional Safety (FuSa).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with CAN and LIN vehicle networks.
  • Prior OEM or supplier experience with electrical components.

This position is a salary grade 8.
