Job Description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.

The Stamping Tooling Engineer will define and deliver manufacturing processes in support of current and future-model vehicle programs at Ford Dearborn Tool & Die in Dearborn, MI. Successful candidates will support the engineering of stamping dies for quality loop progression through data analysis, simulations and model development.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

Drive “Voice of Manufacturing” throughout product development lifecycle to ensure robust, feasible, and manufacturable stamped panels.

Deliver production work – Meet all modeling timing & quality deliverables.

Create models for each die operation based off quality improvement requirements

Run FEA simulations, obtain results from models and analyze

Modify die face models (spring back compensation / formability) until product quality intent is achieved

Optimize die face models iteratively to achieve required panel quality

Analyze and update holes & trim edges to address morphing results

Update stamping die process information for the communication of continuous improvement feedback for future model usage.

  • Perform simulations of stamping processes for comprehensive formability evaluation.

Optimize stamping processes:
Perform draw and line die simulations and remain extensively involved in taking corrective measures to resolve stamping concerns through the refinement of product design and the stamping process until the launch of production to ensure that the manufactured stamping quality is in adherence to Ford standards.
