In this position…
The Global Thermal Systems and Mounts team is seeking an individual to become a member of the Core Engineering Thermal Management and Refrigerant Subsystems (TMSS & RSS) group. This role will be responsible for developing and testing the overall Thermal and Refrigerant sub system to verify system durability, performance and efficiency.
Your objectives will also include Program Delivery, Quality, TVM, Requirements and Test method development. You will be part of a dynamic cross functional team that brings the next generation of vehicle thermal efficiency to reality.
Responsibilities- Lead Thermal Management and Refrigerant Subsystem (TMSS & RSS) testing to support deliverables at program milestones
- Work with program team to calibrate/optimize system performance for comfort and efficiency
- Analyze bench and vehicle testing data to assess system performance, durability, and efficiency
- Capture lessons learned from bench testing and incorporate for future system optimization
- Willingness to be hands‑on dealing with engineering and testing activities / issues in a Ford or supplier laboratory
- Lead and Support CAE development for Refrigerant Subsystem analysis to reduce and optimize physical testing
- Global Travel may be required
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree
- 2+ years of experience with Thermal or Refrigerant (TMSS, RSS) development
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related degree
- 5+ years of experience with automotive Thermal or Refrigerant (TMSS, RSS) development
- Experience with interactions between thermal expansion valves, refrigerant/oil quantities, condensing efficiency, compressor capacity, and chillers to conduct trade off analysis
- Ability to resolve complex issues and effectively communicate to management
- Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas
- Understand/ have deep knowledge of thermal systems/attribute & components for vehicles (Heat Pumps; Battery /Electronics Cooling; Energy Recovery & Thermal Load Reduction; Control Systems)
- Understanding of control systems, equipment PLC, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.
- Proficiency in TcVis Mockup, 3DX, Teamcenter, FEDE
- Proficiency in Date Acquisition Software (IPEMotion, ATI, etc.)
- Demonstrate delivery of results
- Ability to balance objectives and resolve conflicts
- Working knowledge of FMEA’s, 8‑D’s, 6‑Panels
- Knowledge of MS Office Tools
