Job SummaryWe’re seeking a hands‑on Dyno Lab Supervisor to own day‑to‑day operations within our engine and powertrain dynamometer labs. You will lead a multidisciplinary crew of up to 15 technicians and engineers, ensuring every test is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest data‑quality standards. Success in this role demands deep dyno expertise, a passion for continuous improvement, and strong people‑leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Set goals, coach, and develop up to 15 dyno technicians/engineers.
- Manage schedules, PTO, overtime, and daily work assignments.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth.
- Operational Oversight
- Coordinate engine, powertrain, and emissions tests across multiple dyno cells (steady‑state, transient, chassis).
- Verify test requests, fixtures, and instrumentation readiness to minimize downtime.
- Enforce 5S, OSHA, and company safety procedures at all times.
- Technical Guidance
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control‑system issues in real time.
- Approve test setups, sensor calibration, and data‑acquisition parameters.
- Validate results for accuracy and repeatability before release.
- Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Drive preventive‑maintenance schedules for dynamo meters, media conditioning, emissions analyzers, and data systems.
- Lead root‑cause investigations on equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Process Improvement & KPIs
- Implement lean workflows that shorten cycle time and boost first‑time‑right metrics.
- Track lab KPIs (throughput, downtime, data validity, safety) and present weekly reports to management.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Interface with Calibration, Powertrain Engineering, and Program Management to align priorities and resource needs.
- Translate lab findings into actionable insights for product development and customer deliverables.
- Education
- B.S. in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent technical experience considered.
- Experience
- 5–10 years in engine/powertrain dynamometer testing with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Proven track record coordinating emissions, durability, and performance programs for OEM or Tier‑1 customers.
- Technical Proficiency
- Hands‑on expertise with dyno control systems (AVL PUMA, Horiba STARS, DTS, or similar) and data‑acquisition hardware/software.
- Working knowledge of CAN/LIN communications, sensor calibration, and calibration tools (ETAS INCA, CANape).
- Leadership & Soft Skills
- Able to motivate diverse teams under tight timelines while upholding safety and quality.
- Clear communicator comfortable translating complex test data for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and root‑cause problem‑solving abilities.
