Manufacturing Material Alert Engineer at Ford Motor Company
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Alert Engineer to join our Manufacturing Program Engineering team. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of material reallocation alerts across our manufacturing ecosystem. The Alert Engineer is a central point of contact, ensuring timely generation, tracking, communication, and updates of alerts, vital for maintaining production continuity and facilitating the introduction of new materials and processes across mills, blankers, stamping, and assembly plants.
Responsibilities- Alert Management Process:
Manage the end-to-end process of generating, tracking, and communicating material reallocation alerts for each specific flow path and material grade. - Production Validation Team (PVT) Liaison:
Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all PVT requests related to alert approvals, ensuring timely review and resolution. - Trial Team Support:
Act as the primary SPOC for all trial team members, facilitating their requests for new alerts and providing necessary guidance and support. - Cross-Functional Communication:
Create and disseminate comprehensive documentation and/or communicate alert information to external suppliers (mills, blankers) and internal stakeholders (stamping plants, Supplier Technical Assistance - STA) to ensure proper signage and implementation within both stamping and assembly plants. - Alert Lifecycle Management:
- Maintain and update the alert part numbers list based on the outcomes of material validation testing (passed or failed).
- Proactively monitor existing alerts, initiating extensions or renewals as required to prevent production disruptions.
- Reporting & Status Updates:
Attend and report on assembly plant trial status to the BCSE (Body & Chassis Stamping Engineering) Trial Specialist on a monthly or bi-weekly basis, highlighting alert-related activities and their impact.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Materials Science) or a related technical field. - Experience:
2+ years in manufacturing operations, supply chain, material planning, or a related field within the automotive industry. - Process Management:
Ability to manage complex processes, track multiple data points, and ensure adherence to established protocols. - Communication
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying critical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. - Problem‑Solving:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, identifying potential material flow issues and proactively implementing solutions. - Attention to Detail:
Meticulous detail orientation for accurate alert generation, tracking, and documentation. - Collaboration:
Proven ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment. - Computer Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experienced with material management or production planning systems.
- Familiarity with Ford's material flow processes and internal systems.
- Experience with Production Validation Team (PVT) processes.
- Knowledge of automotive stamping and assembly plant operations.
