Join our compassionate and dedicated team! We are currently seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our residents at our skilled nursing facility. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will assist Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to help residents improve and maintain their independence and quality of life.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
Select and guide therapy activities that match residents’ needs and abilities.
Observe and document residents' progress, behavior, and responses to treatment.
Educate and assist residents and families with daily living skills, and the use of adaptive equipment.
Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other care professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
Prepare, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and materials.
Attend care plan meetings to provide input and updates on resident progress.
Demonstrate therapeutic techniques such as arts, crafts, games, or other meaningful activities to support engagement and rehabilitation.
Encourage and guide residents in coping strategies and emotional adjustment during therapy.
QualificationsAssociate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Michigan.
Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred.
Strong understanding of the functional and cognitive needs of geriatric and long-term care populations.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with adaptive equipment and tools.
Reliable, organized, and professional demeanor.
Flexibility to work varying shifts or travel between areas of the campus as needed.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
Frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, stretching, and typing.
