Position Summary
Join our compassionate and dedicated team! We are currently seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our residents at our skilled nursing facility. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will assist Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to help residents improve and maintain their independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Select and guide therapy activities that match residents’ needs and abilities.
- Observe and document residents’ progress, behavior, and responses to treatment.
- Educate and assist residents and families with daily living skills, and the use of adaptive equipment.
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other care professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and materials.
- Attend care plan meetings to provide input and updates on resident progress.
- Demonstrate therapeutic techniques such as arts, crafts, games, or other meaningful activities to support engagement and rehabilitation.
- Encourage and guide residents in coping strategies and emotional adjustment during therapy.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Michigan.
- Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred.
- Strong understanding of the functional and cognitive needs of geriatric and long-term care populations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with adaptive equipment and tools.
- Reliable, organized, and professional demeanor.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts or travel between areas of the campus as needed.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, stretching, and typing.
