Position: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (PRN)

Position Summary

Join our compassionate and dedicated team! We are currently seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support our residents at our skilled nursing facility. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will assist Occupational Therapists in delivering high-quality therapy services to help residents improve and maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Select and guide therapy activities that match residents’ needs and abilities.
  • Observe and document residents’ progress, behavior, and responses to treatment.
  • Educate and assist residents and families with daily living skills, and the use of adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other care professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain therapy equipment and materials.
  • Attend care plan meetings to provide input and updates on resident progress.
  • Demonstrate therapeutic techniques such as arts, crafts, games, or other meaningful activities to support engagement and rehabilitation.
  • Encourage and guide residents in coping strategies and emotional adjustment during therapy.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the state of Michigan.
  • Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the functional and cognitive needs of geriatric and long-term care populations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with adaptive equipment and tools.
  • Reliable, organized, and professional demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts or travel between areas of the campus as needed.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, stretching, and typing.
