About Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital

Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital has proudly served residents across Southeast Michigan since 1953. With 632 beds, it is a major teaching and research hospital and home to five residency programs and a cardiology fellowship in partnership with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The hospital is a Level II trauma center and a Joint Commission‑accredited primary stroke center. It is known for clinical excellence and innovation in orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart and vascular, and cancer care.

Scope

to Work
  • Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations consisting of two‐dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m‑mode; trans‑esophageal; exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms; saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients.
  • Instruction of medical personnel in the technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound.
  • May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students.
Qualifications
  • Minimum requirements:

    Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program and/or significant clinical experience as determined by the department.
  • Preferred requirements:
    Bachelor’s degree.
  • Preferred:
    Minimum of two years (full‑time) experience in the performance of all cardiac ultrasound procedures for adults.
  • RDCS or CCI status is required by the department (no exemption accepted; must pass both parts of the exam).
  • Required:

    BCLS.
  • Analytical problem‑solving is essential to optimize image acquisition for physician interpretation.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Professionalism and communication/interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Cooperative, team‑oriented, flexible, and self‑motivated with a positive attitude are essential qualities.
