The Cardiac Cath Lab at Dearborn supports 4 procedural labs and 16 pre- and post-procedure bays. As the referral center for the surrounding communities, we treat both elective and emergent patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. Utilizing the most up-to-date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in high-risk angioplasty with the use of heart support devices.

We also specialize in chronic total occlusions and structural heart procedures with in-lab TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). The lab performs numerous pacemaker implants, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, transesophageal echo, and cardioversion procedures.

The Cath Lab Charge Lead Nurse role is to provide direct oversight and supervision of all cath lab processes under the direction of the Nurse Leader. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, boarding changes affecting current shift, patient care issues and concerns, appropriate allocation of resources responding to department emergencies, handling employee and patient issues, ensuring consistent flow of patients through the department, and supporting staff and partnering with physicians.

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum BSN; new graduates with less than one year experience must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one year of licensure and complete within five years (effective April 18, 2023)
• 2 years of recent cath lab nursing experience
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – 180 days required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – required upon hire
• Specialty certifications preferred (e.g., CCT, CRTC)
