Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, answer questions quickly and courteously, and assist guests at every interaction.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS computer system.
  • Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; use the company phone greeting and, when appropriate, elevate issues to the Store Manager.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as the new title reservation program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest‑service expectations for store associates and train associates in all aspects of their job responsibilities.
  • Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
  • Provide timely and appropriate recognition and feedback to all associates, and record written feedback in Workday/HR system.
  • Ensure all associates have completed onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts.
  • Work with the Store Manager to schedule associates, adhere to scheduling guidelines, and ensure staffing levels meet guest‑service standards.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify payment for all worked time.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and merchandised store areas, and ensure all fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Fulfill and ship omni‑channel orders daily.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control, loss prevention practices, and bank deposits.
  • Support the team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
  • Perform store inventory counts, stock or restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and ensure products are organized and alphabetized.
  • Reconcile daily transaction totals accurately in the POS system and complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, record discrepancies in the POS system, and communicate them to the Store Manager or District Manager.
  • Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
  • Help maintain store records/files in a neat and organized manner.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
