Great Western Trailer (GWT) is immediately hiring a full-time Mobile Technician at our Dearborn, MI facility. As a Mobile Technician, you will perform maintenance and repairs on semi-trailers using a mobile service truck, traveling to customer sites to deliver high‑quality service and support.

Mobile Technician Responsibilities Inspect & Repair
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on air brake systems, electrical systems, and trailer components.
  • Inspect and repair trailer bodies, chassis, doors, floors, and more.
  • Handle minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies, including lift gates.
  • Conduct welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed.
Install & Replace
  • Install add‑on components such as toolboxes, ramp kits, dunnage racks, and winches.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
Quality Checks & Reporting
  • Prepare service reports and documentation.
  • Examine work for defects and ensure high‑quality repairs.
  • Follow troubleshooting procedures and communicate concerns or needs.
Safety First
  • Follow all safety standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no recent DUIs).
  • Valid CDL license and DOT medical card.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Own a personal set of hand tools.
  • Broad knowledge of semi‑trailer equipment, tools, and systems.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and welding equipment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in semi‑trailer repairs.
  • ASE or other industry‑recognized certifications (welding certification a plus).
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of forklifts, hand tools, welding equipment, and refrigerated trailers.
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, and extreme temperatures.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels; potential risk of electrical shock.
  • Work may be performed in shops, yards, or on customer sites via mobile service trucks.
