Hours:

Weekday mornings, weekday evenings, weekend mornings.

An employee in this position provides group exercise classes at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. The facility is open early morning to late evening seven days a week. We are seeking dynamic, knowledgeable instructors to lead diverse group classes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in formats such as Strength and Conditioning, Cycle, Cardio Kickboxing, Barre, Pilates, and Dance.

We require instructors who can make training accessible, safe, and motivating for all fitness levels.

• Supervises and/or instructs programs, activities, and special events as required.
• Resolves problems and/or complaints from members and class participants.
• Follows established building guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Reports problems as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Willingness to sub for other classes/formats on the schedule as needed.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

• Considerable knowledge of teaching methods as required for particular class.
• Considerable knowledge of the equipment needed for particular class.
• Considerable knowledge of basic anatomy: muscles, bones, joint actions, etc.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct the particular class or activity specified.
• Ability to lead, instruct and advise individuals participating in the class or activity specified.
• Ability to speak and work with the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with other employees, program participants, and the general public.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• The duties require a responsible, mature, dependable individual with considerable public contact experience and ability.
• Willingness and ability to accept responsibility for building facilities and to resolve problems and complaints.
• Experience teaching group classes preferred.
