United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Quality Engineer Leader 5 to join the team at our manufacturing facility in Decatur, AL. This individual will lead and manage the daily activities of Fabrication Quality Engineering and Metrology team. This team is responsible for providing direct quality engineering and inspection support services to the Fabrication production team.

• This position is responsible for ensuring that products, services and processes comply with customer contract requirements, engineering requirements, company procedures, and government regulations.
• The leader of this team will be responsible for developing and executing business plans, policies and procedures and developing organizational and technical strategies to improve performance.
• The leader of this team will provide education and coaching on the AS9100 Quality System.
• The person in this position will also be expected to acquire and manage resources, lead process improvements, develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, suppliers and direct reports.
• Managing, developing and motivating employees is a basic expectation of this position.

• Weekly monitoring of cost/schedule performance
• Hiring staff
• Managing disciplinary corrective action
• Providing training
• Motivating the workforce
• Identifying and clearing constraints to production
• Candidate will be required to direct salary support staff
• Candidate will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule of operations in this area.
• Candidate will also be responsible for building a capable workforce into a high performance work team.

Bachelor

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of 8 years applicable experience in the associated technical or administrative area
• A minimum of 2 years managing people, project management or team lead experience or a combination of any
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with individuals from diverse background
• Experience in the application of AS9100 Quality Management System and using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to work at elevated heights and small spaces
• This position may require regular overtime and possibly second shift work or weekends to support operations

• Bachelors of Science or Masters of Science in one of the following disciplines:
  Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years professional work experience which includes 5 years professional work experience within a related field
• Experience in manufacturing and/or integration of Delta/Atlas/Vulcan launch vehicles, experience with the ULA Quality Management System and experience in Statistical Process Control
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience and knowledge with GD&T
• Ability to provide compelling supportive rationales for decisions and use appropriate levels of persistence, leads tasks and people effectively, guides and coaches others to improve skills and achieve challenging goals, takes independent action, demonstrates a strong work ethic and sense of urgency for completing work assignments, and meets schedule commitments
• Experience in large scale aerospace manufacturing
• Material Review Board (MRB) certified
• Green belt/Black belt certified
