Position Purpose

The Nuclear Site Materials Manager (NSMM) serves as the “primary point of contact” at assigned site(s) to ensure all Supply Chain process responsibilities are carried out in accordance with customer expectations and TVA Policies and Procedures. The NSMM’s responsible for providing the best possible customer service while making business decisions that support TVA values and business initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibility — Supervises a staff comprised of Material Inventory Coordinators, Material Handlers, Supervisors and/or other professional employees.

Budget Responsibility —$250,000 to $900,000

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provides daily support to ongoing analyses of customer requirements including historical data and anticipated spend plans for current and future procurements. Provides oversight and advice for service delivery of more complex contracts.
  • Supports other Supply Chain initiatives including strategic sourcing, process reengineering, investment recovery, and materials management activities.
  • Develops, expands, and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers to foster innovation and continuous improvements in business processes and product/service offerings. Develops new and innovative strategies to accomplish cost-effective Supply Chain objectives.
  • The primary accountability of the NSMM is to ensure the customer expectations are met at the lowest Total Ownership Cost.
  • Manages the site purchasing activities, materials management and investment recovery processes.
  • Ensures the site Supply Chain group operate within the approved budget thereby submitting budget related requests such as planned (non‑callout) overtime requests, travel, training, facilities maintenance requests, equipment, etc., to the appropriate manager after review and concurrence with the justification and short code to be used.
  • Supports Regional Procurement Manager with justifications for program/policy related approvals such as credit cards, sole source, personnel services, purchase dollar limits, etc.
  • Ensures the appropriate manager is notified immediately in the event of an emergency such as but not limited to, site emergency, employee emergency, and accidents.
  • Performs walk‑downs of the plant and warehouses to ensure surplus and/or scrap material remaining from completed outages and/or projects is managed to prevent unnecessary buying of material.
  • Works with the customer on corrective actions in the event material is found which is not visible within the TVA inventory system.
  • Responsible for compliance and maintaining all required documentation for Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls in accordance to retention requirements.
  • Serves as primary administrator of Site Inventory Review Committee (SIRC) and ensures all inventory transactions are in compliance with TVA accounting procedures.
  • Accountable for all Supply Chain assigned areas, and ensures areas conform with housekeeping, environmental, safety, and security requirements. Performs monthly housekeeping and other inspections as required by TVA, state and federal requirements.
  • Facilitates development of personnel by identifying and providing training opportunities. Distinguishes and acknowledges talent within the organization to upper management.
  • Ensures warehouse operations are performed safely and safety concerns are addressed expeditiously. Fosters a Safety First Environment.
  • Customer support includes the key responsibilities, meeting the customer material need dates, supporting outages including meetings and reports, support both site and Supply Chain initiatives, etc

Education –A Bachelor’s degree in business or a complementary field, or equivalent related education, training & experience.

Experience –Five to eight years of experience in an industrial environment, including managerial experience.
