Job Title: Plant Manager
Business Unit: Chore-Time Operations
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager

Overall

Purpose:

As the Plant Manager, you will manage the operations – including production, warehouse, maintenance, and facility – to ensure on-time, complete and error-free goals are attained within budget and resources guidelines.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:

  • Operational Management & Leadership:
    Leads and manages the production and scheduling, following customer order due dates, along with some ordering on smaller components, to ensure shipping dates are achieved.
  • Manages and controls costs to ensure budget goals are attained in the areas of scrap, material usage, overtime, tools, and supplies.
  • Researches, develops and executes on Lean-thinking and 5S initiatives within the facility to continually enhance quality output.
  • Manages the safety and maintenance of the facility and equipment – initiating Capital Expense requests where applicable to ensure production and quality goals are met.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops team members to continually grow competencies within the facility while creating a challenging work environment that retains top talent.
  • Collaborates with customers, CTB Customer Service, and vendors to ensure smooth processes for all involved.

Position Requirements:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or other related field; or equivalent of coursework and experience.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of Manufacturing and Supervisory experience in a production environment.
  • Certification(s):
    Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certifications highly preferred, but not required.
  • Functional Skills:
    Strong budgeting, planning, and production scheduling experience;
    Lean-thinking and process improvement skills; thorough understanding of the complete supply chain process;
    Safety/OSHA experience; along with a strong attention to detail and solid decision-making skills.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills:
    Intermediate or above average Microsoft Office and PC skills; ERP experience and knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.
  • Language Skills:
    Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership/Behaviors:
    Strong attention to quality, uses abstract thinking to create enhancements, sense of urgency, and problem-solving abilities are needed to work through a very broad and diverse set of opportunities in a short amount of time.

Equipment Used:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, along with some hand-held tools.



Physical Requirements to Perform

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to stand for up 4-8 hours in one session
  • Ability to sit at desk for 4+ hours per day
  • Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen as needed throughout the day
  • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow as needed throughout the day
  • Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day
  • Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
  • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, stand, sit, walk, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs. sporadically

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • The employee is primarily exposed to a manufacturing environment where the noise level is moderate to high.
  • Travel:
    Up to 10% travel is required
