Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. - Verify property occupancy and report on general property condition using a mobile application.
- Complete most inspections (mostly exterior) in 5–6 minutes.
- Submit the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in the app.
- Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas)
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
- Printer
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume, with an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates.
There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
