Facility Maintenance Technician
This position's primary responsibility is to keep the Decatur facilities functional and safe. The role requires availability 24/7 and serves as the first point of contact for all after‑hour call‑out lists, including HVAC, generators, fire alarm and other equipment maintenance across the properties.
- Buildings and grounds maintenance
- Inspections on equipment, fire, and safety
- Implement all necessary preventative maintenance plans and agreements
- Janitorial, utilities, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security card access, and landscaping
- Manage vendors, contractors, projects, and repairs
- HVAC‑energy management system optimization to reduce wear and potentially lower electric bills
- Change filters, clean units, check belts and bearings, etc.
- Fire system maintenance – fire alarm panels, extinguishers, computer room dry systems, and regular inspections
- Generator/transfer switch inspection and test runs weekly
- Building lighting/electrical system checks as needed
- Access controls management as needed
- Ground maintenance – parking lot, lighting, and cleaning
- Landscaping – cut grass and weed control
- Janitorial inspection – daily, including bathroom inspections
Employee may be required to do the following: reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials, standing, sitting, walking, seeing with or without correction, hearing with or without correction, following set procedures and standards, applying basic mathematical skills, planning work, comparing and understanding differences in size and shape of lines, figures and objects, picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawings or diagrams, following oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints, reading, writing, and recognizing and reporting safety hazards.
