Job OverviewM.M. Bethune Middle School is seeking a highly energetic GA-licensed School Nurse (RN-LPN). The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting delivery of school health services, normal and abnormal child development, educational principles and approaches for children with various intellectual and learning disabilities, special needs preschool children, and principles of nursing. The candidate should exhibit a kind and caring manner, communicate effectively with children and adults, be flexible, organized, dependable, conscientious and a team player.

Salary Schedules:
TitleNurse, School (RN & LPN)
ResponsibilitiesUnder direct supervision, provide appropriate health/medical services to designated students to minimize absences due to illness and create a climate of health and well‑being in the school.
Essential Functions- Perform student health procedures and assist students with medication administration.
- Perform respiratory assessment; perform tracheostomy care if needed.
- Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters.
- Maintain up‑to‑date health records on students.
- Observe students regularly to detect health needs.
- Work one‑on‑one with assigned students; travel to school on bus with students; attend all classes and activities with required equipment.
- Maintain responsibility for emergency care of assigned students.
- Advise on modification of the education program to meet health needs of individual students.
- Prepare and submit reports for the lead nurse and principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year practical nursing or closely related experience is required.
- Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
- Valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license is required.
- Valid certificates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) required.
