Reports to: Operations Manager

This position supports the full lifecycle of ABB pulp-and-paper quality control products at customer facilities under general supervision. Duties include preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, troubleshooting proprietary ABB hardware and software, and assisting with projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services for the technician’s assigned customer or region. The technician works independently or as part of a small site team to provide service for customers of ABB pulp‑and‑paper quality control solutions.

Work model: onsite (must be in Macon, GA).

• Maintain ABB’s suite of quality control hardware and software – cleaning debris from sensors, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues with the frame and sensor package, and maintaining the computer system and HMI/control software to keep the quality control solution fully operational.
• Handle customer service‑related issues while fostering the customer relationship and solving technical problems on‑site. Deal directly with plant operators, plant management, third‑party vendors, and ABB personnel to support service operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment using technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Training on ABB products and services will be provided; a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety is required.
• Play an active role in projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure commitments are met.

• Associate’s degree in a related field with 8 years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control work/military experience, OR high school diploma with 10 years of related work/military experience.
• Proficient in using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multimeters safely.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude preferred.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools.
• Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance with electrical test equipment.
• Knowledge of identifying voltage systems above 240 VAC/870 VDC to avoid contact.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and use them for troubleshooting electrical systems.
