Job Description
Pay Range: $57,125-$91,971 | Pay Grade: 19 | Job Code: 46025 | FLSA Status: Exempt
Purpose Of Classification
The purpose of this classification is to serve as a counselor by providing a variety of professional services including clinical interventions, organizational consultation, program development, and teaching.
Essential Functions
- Administers direct patient care by providing psychotherapy to department employees; evaluates problems and diagnoses issues; and recommends individualized treatment modalities.
- Assesses patients to detect mental health concerns to recommend interventions; conducts workplace violence threat assessments.
- Plans counseling and treatment programs; provides on-site and follow-up counseling; administers and interprets psychological tests.
- Serves in an emergency 24-hour on-call capacity for crisis intervention services; responds in the field as part of the Crisis Incident Stress Debriefing Team; provides immediate counseling; debriefs personnel involved in traumatic incidents.
- Provides operational consultations, develops health interventions, and conducts research and statistical analyses.
- Consults on organizational matters, including work-group dynamics, team building, leadership development, and morale issues; applies organizational principles for interventions.
- Prepares lesson plans and teaches subjects related to psychological, physical, and social health; develops health promotion materials.
- Researches topics and presents training programs, workshops, and lectures; collaborates on investigations.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology or related field; two years of professional counseling experience; experience with psychological assessments preferred; or equivalent education, training, and experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Must possess State of Georgia Board of Professional Counselors license; valid Georgia driver's license required.
